About Drew

Informed Decisions Make Confident Homeowners

After more than 20 years of military service in the U.S. Coast Guard, I’ve built my approach to mortgage lending around something simple: helping people understand their options so they can make confident decisions about homeownership.

As a Mortgage Loan Originator with Contour Mortgage, I work with first-time homebuyers, current homeowners, veterans, active-duty service members, and families looking to purchase, refinance, or better understand their financing options.

My Coast Guard background gives me a particular passion for helping veterans and military families navigate the VA loan. VA financing can be one of the most powerful homeownership benefits available to those who served, but it’s also frequently misunderstood or underutilized. I focus on explaining how the benefit actually works and helping veterans evaluate how it fits into their larger homeownership goals.

I also bring an MBA and a background in finance to the mortgage process. My goal isn’t simply to get someone through a loan application — it’s to help them understand the numbers, compare their options, and think about how a mortgage fits into their broader financial picture.

Mortgage guidance built around your goals—not just your loan.

Whether you’re ready to buy now or simply want to start planning, you don’t need to have everything figured out before having a conversation.

Veteran-Owned & Veteran-Focused

Proudly Serving Those Who Served

As a retired member of the U.S. Coast Guard, I understand firsthand what military families give for this country — and I believe every veteran should fully understand the benefits they’ve earned. Eligible veterans and service members may be able to finance up to 100% of a home’s purchase price with a VA loan, with no monthly private mortgage insurance, and the benefit can be used more than once.

Beyond home financing, I’m also passionate about helping veterans understand the VA disability claims process. As a Veterans Advocate, I provide free educational guidance on developing a claim, understanding evidence, and navigating the VA process — I do not charge veterans for this assistance and do not represent veterans before the VA. My role is simply to help veterans become better informed and better prepared to advocate for themselves.

What I Help With

Wherever You Are in the Journey

I believe the best financial decisions are informed decisions. Whether we’re discussing a primary residence, an investment property, or a VA loan, my goal is to simplify complex topics so you can make confident, informed decisions.

First-Time Homebuyers

We can run scenarios months before you’re ready to buy, discuss credit and savings goals, and estimate payments before you’re under pressure to make an offer.

VA Loans & Veteran Benefits

Eligible veterans may finance up to 100% of the purchase price with no monthly PMI. I’ll help you compare VA, conventional, and other options to see what’s truly best for you.

Investment Properties

We can analyze estimated payments, taxes, insurance, rental income, cash flow, and cash-on-cash return — understanding the numbers before you buy, not after.

Refinance & Planning Ahead

Mortgage planning doesn’t end at closing. We can evaluate refinancing, cash-out options, home equity, and how today’s equity affects a future purchase.

Testimonials

What Clients Say

“I didn’t know I could use my VA loan on a duplex until Drew walked me through it. He explained exactly how living in one unit and renting out the other would work, ran the numbers with me, and made a strategy I thought was out of reach feel completely doable.”

Marcus T.

Veteran, VA Multi-Unit Purchase

“We had no idea where to even start. Drew laid out every option side by side, was patient with all our questions, and never made us feel rushed. We finally understood what we were actually signing up for.”

Jenna & Paul R.

First-Time Homebuyers

“I had three properties under contract at once and needed a lender who could actually keep up. Drew coordinated financing on all three simultaneously without dropping a single detail — cash flow, timelines, all of it.”

David K.

Real Estate Investor

“Drew didn’t just get me into a home — he helped me understand my VA disability rating and how it affected my loan. Because of that, I qualified for the funding fee exemption and saved about $8,000 at closing I didn’t even know was on the table.”

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the loan program. Some conventional loans allow as little as 3% down, FHA loans can require as little as 3.5%, and eligible veterans and service members may be able to use a VA loan with no down payment. I can compare the available options and help you understand what makes the most sense for your situation.

No. There is no single credit score that determines whether someone can buy a home. Different loan programs have different requirements, and your income, debts, assets, credit history, and overall financial picture all matter. Even if you’re not ready today, we can identify what may need improvement and develop a plan.

Yes. I can help you analyze the financing and numbers behind a potential investment property — estimated mortgage payments, taxes, insurance, rental income, cash flow, cash-on-cash return, financing options, and different down-payment scenarios. I can also run different scenarios so you can see how changes in purchase price, rent, interest rate, expenses, or financing affect the investment. The goal is to understand the numbers before you buy — not after.

No — in many cases, earlier is better. We can run scenarios months before you’re ready to buy, discuss credit and savings goals, estimate payments, and identify potential issues before you’re under pressure to make an offer. You don’t need to wait until you’ve found a house to start planning.

Yes. As a Veterans Advocate, I provide free educational guidance to help veterans better understand the VA comp claim process — including developing a claim, understanding evidence, secondary conditions, and navigating the VA process. I’m also happy to answer questions about your own claim. I do not charge veterans for this assistance and do not represent veterans before the VA. My role is educational — helping veterans become better informed and better prepared to advocate for themselves.

Yes, eligible borrowers may be able to finance up to 100% of the purchase price with a VA loan, subject to VA and lender requirements. VA loans also don’t require monthly private mortgage insurance. There can still be closing costs, prepaid expenses, and a VA funding fee for borrowers who aren’t exempt.

Yes. The VA home loan benefit isn’t a one-time benefit. Veterans may be able to use it repeatedly, and in certain circumstances it’s even possible to have more than one VA-backed loan at the same time. Available entitlement and the specifics of the transaction determine what’s possible.

There’s a difference between the maximum mortgage you can qualify for and the payment you’re comfortable carrying every month. We can look at the mortgage payment, property taxes, homeowners insurance, applicable HOA costs, existing debts, and other expenses to develop a realistic price range. For VA borrowers, I can also explain residual income, an important part of VA underwriting and one of the ways VA qualification differs from many other mortgage programs.

Not necessarily. VA financing offers significant advantages, but qualifying for a VA loan doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best financial choice in every situation. I can compare VA, conventional, and other available financing options and show you the numbers so you can make an informed decision.

Yes. Mortgage planning doesn’t end when you purchase a home. I can help you evaluate refinancing, cash-out options, home-equity financing, or how your current mortgage and equity could affect a future purchase. Whether you’re buying your first home, considering an investment property, using a VA loan, refinancing, or simply planning ahead, you don’t need to be ready to apply to start the conversation.
